Let’s Go Up Here is a durational painting workshop, participatory picnic and performance, devised for Artshouse’s 2018 Festival of Live Art. The work embraced amateur-ship, with the studio development process featuring Bob Ross painting tutorials and naive visual art ventures. Sound by Kevin Lo featured radio broadcasts of each of our retired parents talking about their hobbies - with lists of paint colours, flower species, knitting stitches and caravan pantry items. The work evoked notions of life-cycles, dreaming and death, and the yearning for comfort that comes with age.
