Conceived during Covid lockdown and supported by a Chunky Move Solitude home residency stipend, The Wander was an investigation into female authorship and auteurship. Taking Barbara Loden’s film, Wanda as a jumping off point, the research process folded in embodied responses to female characters, actresses and makers who were ‘nowhere’ women - women who didn’t know who they were or where they wanted to go - who were passive and far from the ‘strong female character’ archetype. The documentation from this project encompassed a short film, a piece of writing and drawings.
