Blowin’ Up: Sneaky Bastard

2016

A trilogy of solos for Alice Will Caroline, Blowin’ Up was commissioned and presented by the Substation for Melbourne Fringe. Each work was created by the individual performer, with outside-eye input from the others.

Sneaky Bastard was partially created in New York with the support of an Australia Council for the Arts Artstart grant, and choreographic mentorship from Tere O’Connor and Shelley Lasica. Strongly driven by explorations in form, the work was site-responsive to the various spaces and architectural features of the Substation.

In Sneaky Bastard Caroline lies in wait. In thick silence and with deep restraint, she plans and then lashes out. Come see the Murky Beauty dance.
